When do you book a wedding photographer?

And when is it too late to book a wedding photographer?

After you have decided how many guests you are having, you can then choose your venue (something intimate, medium, or large). From this, your date is chosen. The next step? Book the wedding photographer as soon as possible, ideally 12-18 months before you tie the knot. For a photographer, the year is divided into the off-season and peak wedding season. If you're getting married between June and August, book your photographer well in advance to avoid missing out.

If you are getting married in the off-season during the middle of the week, it is very likely the wedding photographer is available with less notice. However, if you are getting married on a weekend in the middle of summertime, you are likely too late if you leave it under 18 months to book in advance. Here's a tip: if you are getting married in wedding season, aim for a weekday if you have left it a bit late, as most couples will try and get the weekend spots, leaving more weekdays open to you.

Peace of mind is a major factor when it comes to weddings. Planning a wedding can be one of life's most stressful events, so booking highly sought-after suppliers early is crucial. After getting engaged it can feel like you need to get married as soon as possible, but to have fun is the most important part of planning. Afterall, life is about the journey, not the destination.
